An English-speaking visitor got a Korean greeting, or a Korean site returned an answer in English. The language is decided in a different place for each channel, so where to check also depends on the channel. When the language is wrong, visitors close the chat at the first sentence.
How to fix
- For a widget you installed yourself, the
localevalue in the installation code decides the language, so check that it contains the language code you want (ko,en,ja,zh). Without a value, the widget runs in Korean. How to change it is in SDK reference. - Check that "Widget language" in "Widget settings" in the console matches the installation code, and make them the same if they differ.
- The Cafe24 app and Shopify app follow the first language in the visitor's browser language list, so check that value. Korean and English are supported, and other languages are shown in English. To rule out the effect of extensions, open the site in a private window.
- If the answer is in the visitor's language but only product names are in another language, add product information in the visitor's language on your site and re-collect the knowledge. Product names are read out exactly as registered.
- If the issue persists, contact us with your site address, the time it happened, your browser and its language settings, and a screenshot.
